Siem Reap, a charming little town in northern Cambodia located a few kilometers from the remains of one of the most fabulous cities of the ancient world: Angkor, the capital of the Khmer empire, which dominated Southeast Asia in its time. Day 2
SIEM REAP – BENG MEALEA – KOH KER - SRAEM
A day tour of lost treasures and authentic Cambodian villages begins with Prasat Beng Mealea. Its present state is dominated by jungle: trees have grown on the towers, roots and vines entwine the columns. Lintels and other sandstone blocks from the construction litter the ground in gigantic piles and require visitors to climb them to approach the central tower, which has also completely collapsed. Then, you will continue into the bush towards the remote ancient Angkorian capital of Koh Ker. Cambodia’s history is one of dynastic conflicts and political intrigues, one of the most memorable being the establishment of a rival capital at Koh Ker by Jayavarman IV following a serious disagreement with his family. Although Koh Ker was the capital for only about fifteen years, Jayavarman IV was determined to impose his authority through a major, very prolific construction program, which would leave a legacy of about thirty major temples and several gigantic sculptures now preserved at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh. You will climb to the top of Prasat Thom, a seven-level pyramid, more "Mayan" than Khmer, whose panorama of the surrounding forests is absolutely superb. Not far from Prasat Thom is Prasat Krahom, or Red Temple, so named because of the color given to it by the red stones of the "Bantey Srei" style used for its construction. Far from the crowds of Angkor, Koh Ker has an attractive side for anyone wishing to experience deserted temples and whose silence is only disturbed by the singing of birds. Then you will continue to Sraem. Meals at local restaurants. Night at Hotel.
Day 3
SRAEM – PREAH VIHEAR TEMPLE – ANGLONG VENG – POLPOT HOUSE – SIEM REAP
Early departure to Prasat Phreah Vihear, then you will take the 4x4 access road which winds up the mountain is very steep in places, and suddenly joins the first walls of the most spectacular of the mountain temples. You will explore the temple on foot, wonderfully preserved. A few tourists cross the Thai border each day to visit it, but most will have left the place long ago and you will have the privilege of exploring the fabulous complex alone. You will continue your discovery to the summit, clinging to the cliffs of Dangrek Mountain, which peaks a few hundred meters above the Cambodian plains. The different panoramas from the most dizzying of the mountain temples are breathtakingly beautiful, return to Sraem. Lunch at the local restaurant. Then, transfer to Anglong Veng, the last Khmer Rouge stronghold to have surrendered to government forces in the late 1990s. And today it is a booming city. Return to Siem Reap Dinner at local restaurant. Night at hotel.

It is one of the most striking temples by its evocation of a stone forest. These figures with a peaceful and compassionate expression evoke the king who had them built, Jayavarman VII, or the Buddhist figure of Lokesvara, with whom the sovereign identified. Visit the other remains of Angkor Thom: - Baphuon Temple - The Terrace of the Elephants - The Terrace of the Leper King Visit Ta Prohm, made famous by the movie Tomb Raider, this temple nestled in the middle of the jungle is the perfect example of nature reclaiming its rights! Visit the 8th wonder of the world, Angkor Wat: One of the most splendid human achievements to have ever seen the light of day, Angkor Wat is the most famous and beautiful monument of Angkor. It is a 12th century temple dedicated to Vishnu, built during the reign of King Suryavarman II, surrounded by vast moats of remarkable dimensions and proportions. The heart of the temple is surrounded by a series of galleries covered with carved bas-reliefs. Dinner show Apsara Dances in the local restaurant. Night in Siem Reap.
