Day 1
CHAU DOC – PHNOM PENH
Departure from Chau Doc towards the Cambodian border by Hang Chau boat. Upon arrival at the border, your complete customs formalities on both sides - Duration: 1 hour to 1h30. Arrival in PHNOM PENH, welcome with the French-speaking guide and transfer to the city. Phnom Penh retains its traditional Khmer and colonial charm. The French villas along the tree-lined boulevards remind the visitor that the city was considered the "pearl" of Southeast Asia. Recent political changes have created an economic boom and new hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs have sprung up all over the city. Visit the Royal Palace complex built in 1866 by the predecessors of King Norodom, it is the most striking and impressive of the Khmer-style palaces. Next to the palace is the Silver Pagoda (temple of the Emerald Buddha) which presents a multitude of Buddhas made of diamonds, emeralds, gold and silver. We continue with the National Museum built in 1917, with beautiful Khmer architecture. It contains more than 5000 pieces of sandstone, bronze, silver, wood and others. We then go to the Independence Monument erected in 1954 after Cambodia was no longer a French colony. Lunch and dinner in local restaurants. Overnight at your hotel.

Then, drive towards Kampong Thom for 168 km, one of the 5 provinces bordering the Tonlé Sap Lake. You visit on the way the Skun market known as the tarantula market (big spider). Continue the road to Siem Reap through villages, rice plains, stop at Kampong Kdei to visit an ancient archaeological bridge from the Angkorian era. Arrival in the late afternoon. Installation at the hotel. Lunch and dinner in local restaurants. Night at your hotel.
Day 3
TA PROHM & BANTEAY SREI
Up early to beat the crowds at the photogenic Ta Prohm. It has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, nature continues its advance, ignorant of the dramas of human history. Left as it was discovered by French explorer Henri Mouhout in 1860, the sprawling roots of the giant cheese trees are slowly strangling the stones, first man conquering nature to create, then nature reconquering to destroy. After visiting this incredible temple, we continue to the small but splendid temple of Banteay Srei. Built in pink sandstone, a harder stone that allows for more elaborate carvings and survives the rigors of time better. Not to be missed is Banteay Samre, its pink sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-releifs that are among the finest you will see in Angkor. Lunch at a local restaurant. Late afternoon we visit Tasom. Tasom offers great photo opportunities, especially at the back entrance where giant tree roots decorate the gate. We finish with a sunset over the rice fields from the Pre Rup Royal Crematorium. In the evening we are invited to the home of a local family, we sit around the table and listen to their stories and learn about their daily routine, beliefs and traditions. They teach us some basic Khmer phrases. After dinner we can visit the local night market, a very colorful and lively place in a modern environment. Overnight at the hotel
Day 4
ANGKOR THOM & ANGKOR WAT
Departure by tuktuk for the area of the world heritage of humanity on less frequented roads. We pass small villages and small shops in the jungle. It is a very special and very active day where you will discover some of the most beautiful temples. You will discover the West gate of Angkor Thom ignored by most tourists. - The ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century) - The South Gate of Bayon – unique for its 54 towers decorated with more than 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara - The Baphuon just north of Bayon, pyramidal representation of Mount Meru - The Phimeanakas in a huge complex of temples used in the past for the king - The Terrace of the Elephants platform where the king and the officers watched the shows and met the people, and the terrace of the leper king, - Preah Palilay more ancient than Angkor Thom nearby, buried in the forest, on the way we will see monks sprinkling water on people. We continue to the famous temple of Angkor. Angkor Wat has been a World Heritage Site since 1992, its beauty and splendor make it famous. Angkor Wat features the world's longest continuous bas-relief, which runs along the outer gallery and tells stories from Hindu mythology. Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5
SIEM REAP / BENG MALEA
Breakfast at the hotel. We leave for Tonle Sap, arriving at Kampong Khleang, a remarkable village built entirely on stilts where we see the houses, the school and the shops before boarding a private boat. We then go up a short tributary passing fishermen and children playing in the shallow waters, before arriving at a typical floating village. You can then either disembark or continue your cruise. Picnic lunch with the locals. In the afternoon visit the Bang Malea temple located 75km from Siem Reap. This temple, little known due to its remoteness, is nevertheless one of the most beautiful and spectacular. It is of Angkor Wat type structure. Today in ruins it offers the visitor an extraordinary visit. Lunch in the local restaurant and dinner in the local restaurant with Apsara dance Night at the hotel.
Day 6

As an artist designer, Theam is one of the Cambodians educated abroad who has been involved in the preservation and renewal of the Cambodian craft sector since 1995.
