The Phimeanakas dates from the end of the 10th century, it is a mountain temple with 3 laterite steps crowned with sandstone. A little difficult to access, this temple is the ideal place to take a break. The Terrace of the Elephants on which pavilions once stood, the council room with gold window frames. The Terrace of the Leper King, probably a kind of crematory pyre, was recently cleared. The work has highlighted the different periods of the monument, which is quite unique. Lunch at the local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore the royal monastery of Ta Prohm founded by the great Buddhist king Jayavarman VII at the end of the 12th century. The lush vegetation of this vast complex was kept as an example to show the effort of the clearing and restoration work accomplished by France since 1908. Then, in-depth visit of Angkor Wat, a masterpiece of Khmer art. It is the most famous and most imposing of all the monuments of Angkor, whose five towers, a golden pink, have become the emblem of all the successive regimes of Cambodia. At dusk, the temple briefly takes on an orange color depending on the inclination of the rays of the setting sun. Free dinner. Night at the hotel. Note: Since December 1, 2021, only the 1st and 2nd levels of the Bayon are open to visitors. Visiting the temple of Angkor Wat and also the central sanctuary of Bakan requires visitors to cover their shoulders well, and to wear longs pants or a long skirt.
